Some animals who come into our care can never be rehomed. Whether it’s a long-term medical condition, a disability, or behavioural needs that mean they wouldn’t cope in a typical home, these pets need something different: a permanent, loving foster home for the rest of their lives. We call them our Sanctuary Pets. They still need everything any other pet needs — food, medication, specialist equipment, and ongoing veterinary care — but without the chance of adoption fees or a new owner to share those costs. That’s where you come in. By sponsoring or donating towards a Sanctuary Pet, you help us cover the cost of their care so they can live out their days safe, comfortable, and loved. Meet Sydney
Sydney came into our care in July 2025, and she’s already stolen the hearts of everyone looking after her.
Sydney has had a tough time of it. She has an old injury to her paw that’s affected the bones around her ankle, which in turn has weakened the tendons in that leg — she’s learned to walk in her own special way to compensate. She also has some arthritis in the same leg, and a couple of small lumps that our vet is keeping a close eye on. None of this dampens her spirit, but it does mean she needs a bit of extra help getting around, and she’s not able to keep her own claws trimmed, so she needs regular trips to the vet for this.
Because of her mobility, Sydney can’t jump the way most cats can, so her foster home has kitted her out with little steps to help her on and off the sofa — and she’s mastered them brilliantly. She loves nothing more than a gentle supervised potter round the garden and stretching out for a nap in a sunny spot.
